April Break Art Camp

Art Camp is back for April School Vacation!

This camp is designed for students in grades 1 through 8. 

Each day students will learn an art concept, techniques, and create a work of art based on that subject.  There will be one major art project each day and one to two smaller projects.  Students will take their art home each day with the exception of projects that take longer (up to 24 hours) to dry. 

Daily Schedule:

• 9 am-9:15 am: Arrival
• 9:15 am - 10:30 am: 1st 1/2 of the 1st daily major art project
• 10:30 am -10:45 am: snack (provided by MPA)
• 10:45 am - 12:30 pm: 2nd 1/2 of the 1st daily major art project
• 12:30-1 pm: Lunch
• 1 pm -1:30 pm: Movement
• 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm: 2nd art project
• 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm: Self care crafting time
• 3 pm - 3:15 pm: Dismissal

Major Projects:

1. Shoe Design: Students will decorate a pair of new shoes or sandals of their choice and shoe size and use art materials to decorate them after designing them on sketch paper.  Students will use glue, dye, yarn, embellishments, fabric, and more.
2. Sun catchers: Students will use glass and other transparent but colorful found objects, adding UV protection, to hang in the windows and last a lifetime.
3. Alcohol ink: Students will choose their non-porus surface to add alcohol ink in various shapes, swirls, and forms.
4. Planters: Students will plant seeds in their own custom painted unique planters
5. Mosaics: Students will use plaster and found objects to create a mosaic on a flat surface big enough to put in their own yards and gardens

Smaller Projects:

1. Oragami
2. Color theory projects and color wheels using circular everyday items
3. Sketching: learning techniques and terminology ideal for drawing with pencil
4. Card making: pop up cards with cardsock, markers, and glue
5. Rock painting
